I use my mind, It doesn't use me

As some people know, I love the idea of self-development and bringing value to other people lives through words and music. 
 
This will be my first post and there's probably not a better topic than self development itself to start off.
With these posts my intention is bring some growth, development and healing to your life depending on which topic I choose with these posts. It'll range from personal development, healing, self-awareness and maybe even spiritual growth based content.
Read with an open mind and heart. Take what resonates and leave what doesn't. This is to bring content that people will hopefully value from.
Ill be speaking from experience and what comes up for me around self-development as this is a huge part of my life.
  
So each and every day, I look for ways what will enhance my life, that'll enrich it. That'll bring positivity, peace and balance. What will improve my life for the better. I constantly get really honest with myself and ask "what's not working in my life at the moment that's not giving me real peace, joy or happiness?"
What thoughts, actions or habits are bringing negative emotions and outcomes. That are making me feel depressed, anxious, depleted, drained or feeling sorry for myself.
 
I really reflect on these things and bring awareness to the thoughts, actions or habits I do. Because the first step to bringing in positive change is awareness.
Most people live on autopilot, subconsciously and just go day by day, repeating the same habits and routines they have always lived without bringing real change into their lives. We really need to take time out for ourselves and really get honest with what's not working in our lives anymore. 
 
Awareness is the first step to change. Then it's action. What can you do which is a positive opposite to that thought, action or habit that you have that's negatively effecting you? Everything has a negative and a positive. 
 
That negative thought, action or habit also has its complete positive opposite. Which will bring ultimately bring you more joy, happiness, peace, balance and harmony.
  
Nobody wants to truly suffer, everyone wants to experience true lasting happiness. So we must all take conscious effort to making small or large changes in our lives that will positively impact us.
 
We can't just keep living each day hoping things will get better. We must do the work to make it better for ourselves. Once we see the positive within ourselves, we will also see the world in a positive way too. Your internal world also creates your external world. For an example, if you are always suffering, you will natrually notice more suffering in the world. But the more you see the positive within yourself, you will naturally see the more positive within the world too. As within, so without.
  
Self development is a very large topic and can cover multiple aspects so this is a small part of that, but it is crucial to your personal development and growing into the best version of yourself. A version of you that is truly happy. Truly at peace. Truly free from all the negative emotions you may feel. Free from your past. Free from all that's holding you back from reaching your highest highs. 
 
It's one of the keys to unlocking your true and most authentic self. Behind the ego, behind the masks we put on to fit in, behind the layers we've built around ourselves. 
 
Once you reach a certain level of development you'll begin to realise how beautiful YOU actually are. Each and everyone of you reading this, no matter what you've done in your lives. Regardless of your pain, suffering and choices you've made.
 
You are not your past, you are not your mistakes, you are not what's happened to you. You are not what people say you are. 
 
We've just built a wall around us from every experience we've had, every trauma, every negative thing someone has said to us. Every experience that's knocked us back or hurt us.
 
We've forgotten who we truly are, beneath all the layers we've built up from birth until now. For an example, we must peel through the layers of the onion to get to its core. This is what we must do to find our actual true self.
 
As someone who's put the work in. You are perfect and theirs something beautiful to each and every one of you reading this, regardless of your self-doubt and perceived self-image. Now it's time to really get to know yourself. By eliminating your negative self talk, your image others have created for you which you then adopted as your own, and your ideas about yourself that's limiting your growth. 
 
You are not any of those thoughts that make you feel negative, brings you down or makes you feel worthless about yourself. If only you knew how beautiful you are at your core. You'll realise this yourself once you start to embark on the journey to self-actualisation, self-development and healing. If you haven't already realised that.
 
I've learnt not to listen to my thoughts unless it's positive or constructive. I use my mind, it doesn't use me. I observe my thoughts, but don't attach too heavily to them. I follow what brings me peace and disregard anything that brings me the opposite. Consciously choose thoughts that makes you feel positive and uplifted. Use affirmations such as. I am worthy, I am loved, I am beautiful, I am strong, I am enough, I am perfect as I am. And really believe it because you really are every one of those. It's just our ego or false sense of self that tells us we are not those things. 
Yes, I still feel lower emotional states but I embrace it. I feel it all. I don't judge them or see them as negative. It just indicates to me what's not working and what is. All emotions are here to serve you once you understand them. There is beauty in your pain and suffering but this is all depending on your perspective. You get to choose what perspective you have over your emotions and I choose the perspective of that its trying to teach me something. Its telling me I'm only human and its all a part of the human experience. Be kind to yourself and do not judge your emotions. Observe them and allow your body to feel. Don't bury your emotions with addictions and distractions, this will only prolong your healing process as it needs to be transmuted and released eventually. It can be painful to feel certain emotions but that's okay. Life isn't linear and healing comes in stages. You are much stronger than you think and you are capable of overcoming anything. 
 
If something makes you feel at peace, brings you joy, brings you happiness, brings you upliftment, brings you positivity, brings you contentment. Follow that. Notice what thoughts, actions or habits you are doing that's making you feel that way and follow it. 
If any thoughts, actions or habits are bringing you depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, fear, regret, anger, bitterness, resentfulness, envyness, grief. Then you definitely know its time to change. These are all indicators showing you what's not working anymore. 
Notice what thoughts you are having that's making you feel that way and notice the emotion it brings. It's time to get really honest with yourself. Are you sick and tired of feelings these negative emotions? Use that as strength to change your life up and move in a more positive direction. All it takes is courage to change the course of your life and just take small steps each day. Over time, watch how your life will change for the better. Its all within you.
  
We are all deserving of a good and happy life so let this message be a message of hope. That whatever you're struggling with right now whatever it may be, that there is light through the struggle. I've been there and ill do my best to help you through it one step at a time!
